Starting Baby's Nursery Part I:

Perhaps it is your very first child and you are setting up a nursery, there is truly so much to do but it is so very exciting at the same time.  If the new family member will be having their own room, then the easier this process can be as you will be having a nice blank setting to get started.

One of the first things to decide on will be what type of wall treatment to use, will it be straight painting, hanging wallpaper or possibly a combination of both. If painting is your choice do you prefer colors that are bright and colorful or are you leaning more toward subtle and neutral? Soft blues, greens, and creams are relaxing colors while reds, oranges, and bright yellows are stimulating colors. Even though young children love bright colors something in a calm cool color might be a better choice for a baby’s room. With the wide variety of colors to chose from you are not limited any long to just blue or pink. In fact many parents tend to choose a more neutral pallet that will work well for both boys and girls. This also gives you the flexibility to make easy decorating changes as your baby grow.

Wallpapering is a great way to add lots of baby personality to a room. You’re going to discover an endless supply of soft colors, bold patterns like stripes or checks and cute prints to fit any decorating scheme. To keep the room from becoming to busy and future redecorating made easier you may want to consider using wallpaper on just one main wall or using a solid color, especially if the bedding set you’ve chosen has a lot of color and pattern within it. Wallpaper borders are another alternative; they can be placed around the top of the room or used a chair rail with both top and bottom of the wall painted in coordinating colors or painting the top and papering the bottom.

Adding accessories is where the real fun comes in; this is also when you may want to consider decorating the baby’s room with a theme. There are a wide variety of accessories available to fit pretty much any theme you choose. This can include Crib Set, Lamps, Mobiles, Diaper Stackers, Wall Borders and Art Work. What type of crib to purchase, will it be light medium or dark wood tone, painted white or another color, traditional, convertible or round style. With the vast assortment of choices it really comes down to what you like and what will fit comfortably into your baby’s room. One of the great advantages to convertible cribs is that they change as your baby grows. Many can now be found that are a three-in-one, meaning they start as a normal crib, change to a toddler bed then to a full size.
